On 30 November and 7 December, we were joined by 55 people, consisting of patients and their families to see The Gruffalo’s Child at The Lyric Theatre, on London’s Shaftesbury Avenue. The Gruffalo’s Child is the sequel to the much loved ‘The Gruffalo’ and is full of wonderful music, laughter, magic, slightly ‘scary’ fun and fantastically interactive songs for all of the children and families to enjoy, join in and be enthralled by.

Before the curtain went up, our lovely families were treated to a party, and were joined by a selection of Spread a Smile entertainers to ensure maximum excitement for everyone. The imaginations of all children were captivated by the magical fun on the stage, and the actions of the very brave ‘Gruffalo’s Child’ as she tries to negotiate her way through the snow, whilst trying to avoid the ‘Big Bad Mouse!’

As an extra special treat, the magic continued after both of the shows, as our special guests went on stage and met all of the cast and they loved being a part of this very special show.

Victoria, who attended the show with her kids Alice and Mia, said “Thank you so much for a lovely day out yesterday, the girls (and us grown ups!) really enjoyed it, they haven’t stopped talking about it since. It was a real treat and you really did spread a smile.”

We are so grateful to everyone involved in helping to make both of these trips possible including all the staff at The Lyric Theatre (Nimax Theatres), The Gruffalo’s Child cast and company and Kenny Wax and Fiona Bradley at Kenny Wax Entertainment.
