TRINNY MAKES OVER MUMS ON THIS MORNING!

Trinny Woodall, makeover queen and fashion style expert on ITV’s This Morning, surprised three mums of children we have entertained in hospital with a makeover on the show on Tuesday. Helen, mum of Libby, Andrea, mum of Keeva, and Lisa, mum of Louie, were all given the glam treatment to make them feel extra special.

Trinny said, “Mums are always the ones giving their all and it’s lovely just to give them a great moment today.” Philip Schofield added about Spread a Smile,“It’s an incredible charity – I visited the hospital with them a little while ago.”

Trinny surprised our mums at breakfast – they thought they were going for a spa day, and were blown away when the cameras showed up! They were taken to the television studio where Trinny styled them, trying them out in different outfits, before deciding together on their favourites. They were then given the full works, with fabulous make up and hair, so they all looked a million dollars.

The big reveal was shown live on air, when they walked down the This Morning catwalk to meet Philip Schofield and Rylan. Each lovely lady had a chat with the hosts and one more surprise: a video message from each of their kids, which couldn’t fail to bring a tear to your eye.

We met Helen’s daughter, 8 year-old Libby, while she was treated for Osteosarcoma at University College Hospital (UCLH). We visited Libby with our brilliant entertainers in hospital and also took her and her family to see a variety of shows including a Strictly Come Dancing evening where she got to meet the stars of the show. We are also very grateful to Libby’s family who were the driving force behind a group of 6 dads and 3 children who ran the Surrey Half Marathon on Sunday.

Libby said in her video message, My mum deserves a special treat because she’s been by my side the whole year and helped me understand some things I didn’t understand and made me safe and comfortable. I love you Mummy. I hope you had a great day.” Helen told Philip, “The charity do exactly what it says in the name – they bring a smile when you most need it, and, boy, have we most needed it this last year!”

11 year-old Louie, Lisa’s son, was diagnosed in January last year with a brain tumour. We met him at UCLH where he loved seeing our magicians and cuddling our therapy dogs. Louie said in his special recorded message for the programme, “I think my mum Lisa deserves a treat because she has helped me through a lot and she’s always there for me when I need her.”

Keeva, Andrea’s 7 year-old daughter, was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer 4 years ago. We entertained Keeva while at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Keeva said, “I love it when Spread a Smile visits. I love Mr. Magic as he always makes me laugh and I love the fairies as they always give the best glitter tattoos!” Mum Andrea said, “It’s so lovely from a parent’s point of view seeing your child smile, especially when they’re going through such a horrific time.”

Keeva’s message to her mum said,“Hi Mummy, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are amazing. I love you so much. Enjoy your special day. Love Keeva.” Her other daughters, Sorcha, Roisin and Ailbhe also added a message: “We love you to the moon and back.”

Thank you so much to Trinny Woodall, Trinny London and This Morning for making all this possible, and for giving our lovely mums such a gorgeous treat!

We are also delighted to have been chosen as charity of the year for the sought after makeup brand, Trinny London.
