What You Will Do
Join us on 12 September 2026 for the incredible Yr Wyddfa Challenge — a triathlon set in the heart of Snowdonia National Park (Eryri). You will venture through some of the UK’s most breath-taking landscapes by cycle, kayak and on foot.
This unique triathlon includes:
• A 15 km cycle
• A 3 km kayak
• A 15 km hike to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)
The event is organised by Alder Hey Children’s Charity and brings together eight children’s charities – including Spread a Smile – for a shared fundraising challenge.

What are the key dates for the Yr Wyddfa challenge?
Online Safety Briefing: Date to be confirmed – all participants will watch a pre-recorded briefing before the event
Friday 11th September 2026: Registration Day to collect race packs and event t-shirts.
Saturday 12th September 2026: Challenge Day – teams set off at staggered start times to complete the triathlon.
How long does the challenge take?
Teams usually complete the challenge in 7 to 10 hours, depending on weather conditions and pace.
Who is eligible to take part?
Anyone aged 16 or over can join. Participants aged 16-17 must be accompanied by a guardian.
