Comedy Night returns for a night to remember

What a night at the Spread a Smile Comedy Night at The Comedy Store, London earlier this week!

Generously sponsored by Canary Wharf Contractors and Texel Foundation, the event was curated and hosted by Spread a Smile Ambassador, Suzi Ruffell, who had the audience laughing right from the start before introducing a brilliant line up featuring Sindhu Vee, Amy Annette, Sara Barron, Josh Widdicombe and Iain Stirling.

Lucy Jackson, Spread a Smile Chief Executive took to the stage before the interval to talk about the difference our guests were making to the seriously ill children we support, sharing a film featuring some of the young people the charity has met and helped over the years.

Talking about the event, Lucy said, “The Spread a Smile Comedy Nights are a chance to welcome supporters and new guests for a fun evening full of laughter, whilst also sharing the importance of our work. We are so grateful to Suzi who is an incredible Ambassador, curating such a successful evening and giving so much time and energy to support the charity. Also to Iain, Josh, Sindhu, Amy and Sarah for generously giving up their time and sharing their undisputable talents with us. It was such a fun evening and we’re looking forward to the next one already.”

Thousands of pounds were raised on the night to support Spread a Smile’s work spreading joy and laughter to seriously ill children and their families and our thanks go to everyone who joined us, The Comedy Store for hosting and our amazing sponsors, Canary Wharf Contractors and Texel Foundation. Also to the team of hard working volunteers from L.E.K Consulting who helped ensure the event ran smoothly.

Comedy Night a huge success

What a night! Monday saw our third annual Comedy Night at The Comedy Store London, sponsored by Canary Wharf Contractors Fund and curated and hosted by our amazing Ambassador Suzi Ruffell.

The evening was sold out, with 400 guests joining us for an incredible night of standup comedy from the extremely talented Rob Beckett, Laura Smyth, Dinesh Nathan, Maisie Adam, Thanyia Moore and Tom Allen.

The Spread a Smile Comedy Night is an important date in our fundraising calendar, providing an opportunity to welcome supporters and new friends for a fun night out whilst also raising vital funds for our work spreading smiles to seriously ill children, young people and their families. Over £22,000 was raised on the night through ticket sales and a raffle and guests heard more about our work and the difference they are helping to make to the families we support.

Lucy Jackson, Spread a Smile Chief Executive said, “This year’s Comedy Night was a huge success, made possible by the wonderful support by our incredible Ambassador Suzi Ruffell, her fellow comedians, our headline sponsor and guests. The room was filled with so much joy and it really brought home just how important smiles and laughter are. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to everyone who made this brilliant event possible and for helping to raise such a brilliant amount to ensure we can keep spreading smiles to our families when they need us most.”

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to Suzi for all her hard work bringing this brilliant event together. We’re excited to announce that our much-loved Spread a Smile Comedy Night, hosted by our Ambassador Suzi Ruffell returns to The Comedy Store, London on Monday 4 December.

This will be our third annual Comedy Night, once again generously sponsored by Canary Wharf Contractors. Following on from the success of last year’s event, Suzi Ruffell has curated another fantastic evening of stand-up comedy, featuring a brilliant line up of famously funny faces, including Tom Allen, Rob Beckett, Dinesh Nathan, Maisie Adam, Laura Smyth and Thanyia Moore.

“As a Spread a Smile Ambassador, I’m proud to do what I can to support the charity’s brilliant work spreading smiles to seriously ill children and young people and I’ve seen first hand the difference they make. We are delighted to announce that on Monday 19th December, our Ambassador and Comedian Suzi Ruffell will be hosting a second annual Spread a Smile Comedy Night at The Comedy Store, London, sponsored by our friends at Canary Wharf Contractors.

Following on from the success of last year’s inaugural event, Suzi has curated another fantastic evening of stand up comedy, featuring a brilliant line up of famously funny faces, including Alan Carr, Ed Gamble, Rosie Jones, Jen Brister, Jenny Bede and Dinesh Nathan.

Suzi first discovered Spread a Smile when a friend’s child, Trixie, was in hospital and she was able to see first-hand what a difference our visits and entertainers made during Trixie’s stay. Since then, Suzi has supported the charity generously, donating her winnings from TV appearances on The Tipping Point and The Weakest Link, and organising and hosting the first comedy fundraiser in aid of Spread of Smile in December last year.
