Aditi is a beautiful girl with a beautiful smile that lights up the room.
Aditi was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome and Renal Failure when she was just five years old. This required dialysis at Great Ormond Street Hospital three times a week, and a Bone Marrow Transplant in September this year.
Aditi’s condition has greatly impacted the whole family, restricting what they could do due to the amount of time Aditi needs to spend in hospital.
Spread a Smile has been supporting Aditi with one-to-one virtual visits, including singing sessions since 2020. These sessions have had a hugely positive impact on Aditi’s hospital experience, providing fun and creative activities while she was undergoing treatment and bringing joy and variety into the family’s life. They have detracted from the anxiety, boredom and monotony associated with a hospital stay.
Aditi and her family have also joined us for some of our special theatre outings meaning that the whole family could spend quality time together, away from the stresses and worries of hospital and illness.
As Aditi’s Dad, Uday said: “Aditi’s diagnosis turned our life upside down. We weren’t able to make spontaneous plans or travel and Aditi was only able to go to school for two hours a day on non-dialysis days. She missed out on so much.
“Spread a Smile brightened our world. Aditi has found so much joy and happiness during the sessions and outings and has felt so special and loved. Spread a Smile has helped us all and given us such beautiful memories.”
