Meet the lovely Lily…

Lily was the first patient at Southampton Children’s Hospital to take part in one of Spread a Smile’s virtual sessions.

After finding a lump on her right tibia, Lily was diagnosed with a very rare and aggressive cancer which was treated as a type of Ewing’s Sarcoma. Lily started a course of chemotherapy straight away before undergoing surgery to remove the sarcoma and save her leg.

Lily Art SessionDuring her time in hospital, Lily enjoyed a range of Spread a Smile’s regular sessions including art, magic, fairy sessions, making play doh, the Jelly challenge and make up – throwing herself into everything she took part in.

As her Mum Kirsty said: “Lily loved the sessions with Spread a Smile as they gave her something to focus on away from her treatment. What’s more, her siblings were able to join in, meaning they could all have fun and do something together simply as children.”

Spread a Smile makes a huge difference to children like Lily and their families during some of the worst times of their lives. Thank you for helping to spread smiles when they are needed most.
